Hello Norris students. I want to compliment you - and Mr. Hodgson - for taking on a difficult topic. In listening to your thoughts on Darfur and your suggestions for calling attention to and stopping the genocide, I am struck by the power of young people to make a difference in the world.

Since the Youth Radio project is an ongoing one, I hope you will continue to add comments to your podcast ad keep us updated on the impact of your ideas.

This summer I will be traveling to Columbia University to attend a two-week summer seminar on the Holocaust and other state-sanctioned genocides. The purpose of the program is for teachers to come up with strategies for teaching about genocide to middle and high school students. Based on your Darfur podcast and Butler Elementary's Sugihara podcast (from last year), I plan to think about appropriate ways to introduce real-world injustices to elementary students. As a teacher, it's easier to avoid such controversial topics, but you've given a compelling example of how elementary students can deal with complex social issues and become empowered to take social action.

Thank you.

As a teacher in PA, I appreciate the effort you put in to understanding the problems in Darfur, and the empathy you demonstrated in your solutions. Your podcasts are a powerful tool, and you voice was heard. I will direct my students to your site to learn about your concerns. Thank You.

Being in the Mega conference was really cool. I'm so glad that I got to talk about Elk Grove to many others!!! It was a amazing opportunity that most students don't get to experience.

You have really good ideas and hopefully your ideas will work. You care a lot about helping the people in Darfur. We are in grades 2-5 and don't know a lot about Darfur yet. We will try to learn more later. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
